Running

Ok let me just simply say this, running is good for you in so many ways it is unreal. If you are a runner you dig what I am saying if you are not try it and you will see what I am talking about. Running and exercise in general has a plethora of benefits including mental, physical, spiritual and emotional just to mention a few. I am looking forward to our article in Maxum Magazine (Sept issue comes out mid August as they added stuff to the story) that will once again illustrate the benefits I mentioned above.

I want to say this to the people who are battling addiction and depression out there, if you are not exercising please do so. I am not saying you have to run the Ironman but rather simply do some sort of physical exercise of your choice (love that word choice) and stick with it and I guarantee you will experience the benefits that I and many others experience.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Ps this photo is from Ironman Canada in 2000. Talk about a beautiful place eh?

Dude. You look so much leaner now. It's not a slam by no means at all. Just pointing out that you look much leaner now than in the pictures.

What's your diet like? Do you weight train?

Todd,
You are right about exercise, for me it is swimming. I don't like running (maybe because I am not good at it) but it does give me time to think, and clear my head. Exercise is therapy no doubt about it. Keep it up, Ultraman will be no problem for you!

Ultraman no problem for me? lol I will think of that comment while I am out there struggling.

I do little weights but alot of push ups and sit ups. I think the main difference is my diet. Mainly water mixed with protein, a ton of fruit, v-8 juice, turkey and when I can salmon.

Thanks for the comments guys

I would like to share with you all a philosophy that I have developed over my 13+ years of productive drug free living.I am by no means perfect and I struggle often to keep this train on the track. I must admit though that when I am better aligned with these principles my world and the world of those around me is a much better place to hang out in.

"Work the body and the mind will follow."

It is the mind that convinces us that we cannot do it, that we are too tired, too fat, too embarrased, too sad, too broke, too busy, too sick, too tired, too lonely, too old and that it is just too hard for me! It is most likely the mind that got us all in the mess that we were/are in!

"If we want to accomplish what we've never had, we must do things that we've never done."

Get out there and challenge yourself to work that body. Go for a walk, a run, a swim, fly a kite with your kids, enter that race that you've dreamed of. Whatever it is just do it. Don't let your mind talk you out of it. This my friends is empowering.

"Choose wisely where we place our attention and then stand guard like a watchdog at the gates of our mind!"

The mind is a valuable thing to waste but it can also be my worst enemy. I attempt to be grateful often, work to keep my EGO in check, and try to be more accepting of all people including myself. On that note I will close by saying.

"Be FOR SOMETHING. Being AGAINST ANYTHING is just a waste of energy and we could use that energy running don't you think?"

Get Inspired, Be an Inspiration to Another and Make it an Awesome Day!

Thanks Todd

After reading the awesome comments of the people that share on your Blog, I have come to the conclusion that I must now add a name to the many nick names you have Playa.
Your new nick name is " The GodFather "
Like a good dad you give your peeps good advice,
I know God looks at your efforts and is pleased.
My walk through this jungle has been less painful with you backing me up.
If you ever go back to a 9-5 job, you can walk away knowing that you gave to people who were in need.
And nothing can change that ! Thank Goodness.
Peace

I can do the push ups, sit ups, turkey, water, salmon and fruit, but that v8 juice is just horrible man!

I tried this afternoon after running 7 this morning and I think I would rather run 7 more than drink that stuff!
