Arrested

Hey everyone,

Ok you want an example of how good sobriety is, well here ya go. As I was running today, I passed a detective as he was directing traffic (we have a big golf outing in town this week) and said "hey Detective how are ya? He replied "hey Todd do not knock over any of my cones" and he waived and laughed. As I continued on my run I thought this guy came to my parents house 23 years ago arrested me and took me to jail for what could and possibly should have been an 8 year prison term and now look at our relationship. Also when I was in a car accident last year (that was not my fault) he was on the scene and was talking to me about the ESPN segment (as they were in town filming at the time) and then gave me a ride home in the police car and jokinly said "how do you like our new seats they are different since you were in there the last time"

Bottom line is this people, as a direct result of my drinking I faced serious legal problems with this guy and as a benefit of my not drinking look at how things change. Now look at this photo and tell me that I did not make the best choice of my life which was to stop drinking and using drugs. If you are questioning if you can have a better life if you choose to stop, the answer is simply YES.

Enjoy your day.

TC

Oh, you are so right how things change and we've talked about it. I knew you back then, and even before that picture and thought you were so cool. Athletic and good looking, and had a hockey career going that many would have given there skates for. Never talked to you much, cause I just wasn't as cool and you would never have noticed me! HA! How little we know, when we think we know it all!

Now look at you and all you've accomplished. Keep on smiling, and running and doing what you do and know best. Be happy and do what is right for you too!

ps - sorry there was no water at the water stop this morning!!

I don't think we need to discuss your choice of hairstyles in the mug shot. :-) On a serious note Todd, I am truly sorry about the loss you shared with me at Sky's game. Keep doing what you do so that you can help others avoid such tragedy. See ya around,
Bri

Hey Todd,
That is so cool how that relationship changed with that person(the officer). How great for him to see that turnaround--and you to live it--that is hope!
You write this stuff on what would have been my brother's 57th
birthday. He lost the battle at 37
years of age.
Thanks for all you do! You are showing what hope and determination
can do! God Bless all of your pursuits.----RC

Todd & Co.,
Thank you for all the great comments..
I dont know why I cant stop.
All the blessings this world has to offer , more than I could ever dream of , but also stuck with this daily struggle to drink more than is good for me.
I dont know where this road goes from here,
but I know I always that I have a friend in R4R
Peace
and Best wishes to the GodFather

Todd - although I have not had any issues with addiction, my cousin's son lost his battle just about 2 years ago and am so sad for that life lost. I participated last year in the Sylvania 5k after hearing about it from my neighbor. I really only went for the 5k, as I have started running and the 5k's make me exercise just to complete them, but came away with a great appreciation for what you are doing and now keep tabs on your blog and what you are doing.

Best of luck in Hawaii, how cool I truly cannot fathom the limits you can push your body to, unbelievable, makes me cringe to know I can only complete a 5k!

Good for you, you are helping yourself and so many others with your work.

I remember you talking to my class in 8th grade. I went to St. Joan of Arc. The day you talked to us you changed my life. I dont know if your remember since you have probably talked to alot of students, but i talked to you about how my dad is a drug addict and lives and California and chose to have no part of my sister and my life. Im glad i have a chance to talk to you in 8th grade, i have yet to read your book but its on my list. Thank you so much.
